General DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for your space.

Understanding DroneTours

What is a DroneTour?

A DroneTour is a cinematic FPV drone flight that moves smoothly through a space in one continuous, flowing journey, capturing scale, flow and atmosphere in a way traditional filming cannot.

What is FPV, and how does it differ from a standard drone?

FPV stands for first-person view. The pilot flies using a live view from the drone itself, which supports smooth, flowing routes and close-proximity, precision flying through complex spaces. DroneTours specialises in FPV drone tours.

How is a DroneTour different from traditional video or photography?

DroneTours create continuous, flowing movement through a space, rather than a series of separate static shots. This delivers a true sense of scale and immersion that static cameras and conventional filming can’t replicate.

Does a DroneTour have to be one take?

No. Some projects suit a genuine one-take, while others use hidden cuts or creative transitions to connect multiple environments.

Why choose DroneTours for an FPV drone tour?

DroneTours is a leading UK specialist in FPV drone tours, with more than a decade of experience planning and filming complex physical spaces.

What types of spaces are suitable for DroneTours?

DroneTours work across a wide range of environments including offices, retail, venues, warehouses, hospitality spaces and public buildings - both empty and operational.

Planning, access and safety

How does a DroneTour project work?

There are three steps. Plan: we agree the route, access and priorities with you. Fly: specialist FPV pilots film your space, planned around opening times, privacy and any areas that must stay operational. Deliver: the footage is edited into a hero film and the supporting content you need.

How much planning is required before the flight?

It can really vary a lot, every DroneTour includes route planning and site assessment in advance depending on complexity, ensuring a smooth, safe and efficient flight on the day.

What do you need to plan a DroneTour?

The site layout, access window, priority areas or features, people and privacy considerations, and the intended content outputs are the most useful starting points.

What do I need to send to get started?

Anything that helps us get started: your name, email and a little about your space. The more you can tell us about what you are looking for, the more of a head start we get. Only your name and email are required.

Can you film while a space is in use, or only when it is empty?

Often, yes. We plan access, safety controls and timing with you, whether the space is empty, lightly occupied or operational, then work around staff and any areas that need to stay in use, subject to site safety, privacy and safeguarding requirements.

Is it safe to fly drones inside buildings or public spaces?

Yes. All flights are carefully planned, risk assessed and flown by experienced FPV pilots using lightweight drones, following strict safety procedures at all times.

Do you need special permissions or approvals to fly?

We handle the necessary airspace permissions, flight restrictions and restricted airspace requirements. We may ask for your help with launching from private land where required.

What if the weather is bad?

It’s the UK. We can be flexible and reschedule based on weather, we try to keep an eye on it ahead of the shoot and make a call as soon as possible.

How long does a DroneTour shoot take?

Simple DroneTours can take only a few hours, while complex DroneTours may take all day.

What’s your turnaround time?

Most projects enter post-production within 5 to 7 days, with core turnaround aimed to be within two weeks.

Content and enhancements

What do I get from one shoot?

The goal of most shoots is to capture an effective hero DroneTour that showcases the space, alongside supporting material that delivers multiple outputs. You capture once and deliver many times: typical outputs include vertical edits, shorter overview cuts, area or feature clips, social cutdowns, motion-graphic versions and website loops, depending on your sector and brief.

Can one shoot create shorter clips and social content?

Yes. DroneTours are designed to create versatile, multi-use content. The main film can be supported by vertical edits, department or area cutdowns, teasers and shorter clips for websites, social platforms, presentations and marketing campaigns, and one session can produce separate clips for different departments, processes or features.

Can the DroneTour label or explain equipment, features or work?

Yes. Motion-tracked graphics can identify rooms, amenities, equipment, processes, materials, specifications and areas delivered by particular teams, and voiceover can explain them, when the information is accurate and approved.

What enhancements are available?

Available enhancements include motion graphics and visual enhancements, motion tracked text, voiceover, an enhanced content package for social media, a micro content package, aerial photography and aerial 360 photography. The right mix depends on your sector and what you need the film to do.

Can the footage be used for recruitment?

Yes. Films showing the people, environment and day-to-day character of the business, plus team-culture clips, area cutdowns and vertical edits, can support recruitment campaigns, careers pages and social channels.

Can DroneTour clips support sales conversations?

Yes. Short clips of specific rooms, areas or facilities can support proposals, sales conversations and customer or event enquiries.

Can a DroneTour help with onboarding?

Yes. Short orientation and facility clips can help new customers, pupils, parents or staff understand facilities and services before or after they arrive.

Multi-site, commercial and coverage

Can you create a consistent format for multiple sites?

Yes. A repeatable production and editing approach can be planned across multiple locations while keeping each site’s key features relevant, so multi-site operators get a consistent format across locations.

Have you filmed across multiple sites?

Yes. Examples include multi-site retail production for Marks & Spencer across 30+ stores over approximately five years, and multi-site leisure production for Nuffield Health, as well as many other industries using DroneTours as their main marketing style.

What is your pricing structure?

Our DroneTour packages usually fall into 1 of 3 categories, Basic, Professional and Fully Choreographed. We then have add-ons tailored to suit your use case.

Do you offer whitelabel pricing?

DroneTours offers production partner pricing and flexible structures for agencies, making us a simple bolt-on offering for suitable production companies.

Do you work across the UK and Europe?

Yes. DroneTours covers the UK nationwide and most of Europe. Tell us where your space is and we will plan the shoot around it.

Can I see examples of your work?

Yes. Each sector page below shows how DroneTours presents its work for that type of space. Use the link at the end of your sector’s questions to see the examples for your type of space.

Office DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for your workplace.

Can you film an office while people are working?

Yes, where the route and working environment allow it. We plan access, safety controls and timing with you, then work efficiently around staff and any areas that need to stay operational.

Can staff be included in the DroneTour?

Yes. Staff can appear naturally in the workplace or take part in light choreography where that helps explain the space, culture or customer journey.

Retail DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for a store or retail programme.

Can you film before a store opens?

Yes. We can plan filming around pre-opening, overnight or controlled-access windows where the store and production requirements allow it.

Can you work within a short filming window?

Yes. We plan the route and priorities around the available access, then capture the required passes as efficiently as the store and safety requirements allow.

Industrial DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for a facility.

Can you film inside live industrial sites?

Often, subject to site safety, access and operational requirements. The route and timing are agreed during planning.

Is this only for marketing?

No. The same production can support sales, recruitment, stakeholder communication and internal presentations.

Can you cover very large warehouses?

Large footprints are a strong use case because FPV can connect wide areas and details in one route, subject to a practical site assessment.

Construction DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for a project.

When is the best time to film a completed project?

Usually when the space is visually ready but before occupation or handover removes access or changes the environment.

Can you film during construction too?

Yes. Progress DroneTours can document agreed stages before a return visit for the finished project.

Can contractors and clients share the filming cost?

Potentially. One filming day can produce separate deliverables for each party when the scope and permissions are agreed in advance.

Can this become a repeat project series?

Yes. A planned sequence of progress and completion visits can create repeat content and a coherent project story.

Workshop DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for a workshop or production space.

Can vehicles and staff be part of the flight?

Yes, where safe and appropriate. People, vehicles and machinery can be planned into the route.

Can you capture details as well as the whole workshop?

Yes. The route can move from wide spatial views into tools, vehicles, workstations and process detail.

Do you provide sound design?

Yes. Sound design can be planned around machinery, vehicles and active production, subject to the final scope and usage rights.

Leisure DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for a gym, club or leisure facility.

Can you film when the club is empty?

Yes. Early, late or otherwise controlled access can minimise disruption and protect member privacy.

Can a DroneTour cover several areas of one venue?

Yes. A planned route can connect entrances, hospitality, rooms, event spaces, seating and outdoor areas where access allows.

Can you include people or live activity?

Yes. Planned choreography can demonstrate how a venue is used, subject to permissions and safe operation.

Can you film major stadiums and arenas?

Often, subject to access, permissions and flight planning. Each large venue is assessed individually.

Can this work for hotels, weddings and restaurants?

Yes. The same connected-journey approach can show how guest and service spaces relate, with sector-specific pacing and content.

School DroneTour Questions

Practical answers before you plan an FPV drone tour for your school.

Can a DroneTour be used for school admissions?

Yes. It can give prospective pupils and parents a clear view of facilities and layout before an open day or visit.

Can you film without pupils present?

Yes. A school can be filmed empty, lightly occupied or with planned participation, subject to safeguarding and permissions.

Can you add a guided voiceover?

Yes. Voiceover can explain facilities, values and important areas throughout the journey.
